They’re finally here: the patch notes for SMITE 4.24: Frostfire. The final patch before Worlds. The end of the Odyssey. The reveal of the community-voted, tier five Ullr skin.
The patch is super light on balance — which was expected and confirmed by HiRezPonPon at an earlier date — and heavy on cosmetics, most of which are for the Odyssey.

Frostfire Ullr is the last Odyssey reward, earned for collecting a whopping 98,000 Odyssey Points. It’s Limited, meaning you’ll never be able to get it again once the 2017 Odyssey ends. Like all tier five skins, Frostfire gets progressively more epic as the match goes on. Ullr’s stance changes will be ice and fire themed, ice for bow/ranged form and fire for axe/melee form.
Aside from Frostfire Ullr, there are four more Odyssey skins being added for direct purchase: Arctic Seer Artio, Krampus Cernunnos, Crystal Gaze Medusa and Fallen Angel Nike.

Non-skin Odyssey content includes the Fire and Ice HUD Theme (the 84,000-point Odyssey reward), Ember Storm Level Up FX, Let it Snow Fountain FX and a Cutesy Recall.
The Celtic pantheon quest line will also open up, revealing seven more quests offering 500 Odyssey Points each, or a total of 3,500. The Celtic quests are the last quests to be added, meaning once you’ve completed those along with all the other pantheon quests, you’ll have gone as far as you can in the Odyssey without purchasing any skins.

Hi-Rez has announced what the quests will be. They look straightforward enough, and there are no mode-specific quests that some players have voiced their displeasure with (probably because there is not a Celtic-themed map as with the other pantheons):
- Play 2 games
- Get 1 FWOTD
- Get 30k Player damage
- Kill 2 towers as a team
- Play a Celtic God in 1 Game
- Play a Warrior in 1 Game
- Play a Guardian in 1 Game

There are also skins unrelated to the Odyssey event, all exclusive. Tremor Tech Cabrakan and Rocket Punch Mercury will be going into chests. HRX Loki will be dropped through Twitch while viewing HRX matches. Empress Nu Wa will be in the big Odyssey 2018 chest.
Hi-Rez has also had a chance to add more dance emotes. Artio, Cernunnos and Nike will all be receiving one.

Finally, we get to balance. As mentioned, there is nothing major. Hi-Rez says they want to keep changes under control “to ensure teams competing at HRX will have the time needed to practice without throwing a wrench into their planning.”
According to Hi-Rez, they have taken a hard look at mana costs, especially with regard to abilities that players would purposely avoid leveling up because the increased mana costs did not justify the benefits, such as Agni’s fumes and Bacchus’ chug. Mixed in with the mana buffs is a nerf to Odin’s Ring of Spears ultimate ability that decreases its duration and a 100 gold cost increase to the Stone of Gaia item.

Agni Buff
- Decreased mana cost from 60/70/80/90/100 to 60/65/70/75/80
Bacchus Buff
Chug
- Decreased mana cost from 40/65/90/115/140 to 40/45/50/55/60

Odin Nerf
Ring of Spears
- Decrease Duration from 6s to 5s
Sobek Buff
- Decrease mana cost from 70/80/90/100/110 to 60/65/70/75/80

Hun Batz Buff
Sacred Monkey
- Decrease mana cost from 75/80/85/90/95 to 60/65/70/75/80
Isis Buff
Spirit Ball
- Decrease mana cost from 70/80/90/100/110 to 70/75/80/85/90
Dispel Magic
- Decrease mana cost from 80/85/90/95/100 to 60/65/70/75/80

Stone of Gaia Nerf
- Increased Cost from 2000 to 2100
The PTS should be going live soon with patch 4.24 all set to launch next week for SMITE. If all goes as usual, Xbox One and PS4 should get Frostfire a week after the PC launch.
