SMITE 5.6 patch notes released: Inner Demon Arena Adventure and more

Last patch, SMITE players said goodbye to Da Ji and the Legend of the Foxes, the first of SMITE’s Season 5 Adventures. Hi-Rez has released the patch notes for 5.6: Inner Demon. With it come a new Adventure of the same name, the conclusion of the birthday event and more. To see the patch notes, keep reading or see them on SMITE’s official site.

Inner Demon Arena

Those who remember Season 4’s Corrupted Arena — which some would say was the best Adventure of last year; in fact, we ranked it as the top Adventure on our Season 4 countdown — will see similarities here. Instead of dangerous pits like Corrupted Arena, Inner Demon Arena has pits of water that will hurt those who linger in them for too long.

Inner Demon Arena also has objectives: three “serpent demons” will spawn every two minutes. The team who kills the majority of them, or two out of three, will get a Juggernaut (the big guys pushing the cart in regular Arena). They’ll behave identically to regular Arena Juggernauts with the exception that “they will attack nearby enemies when stopped.”

The bonus round from the Hades’ Escape From the Underworld event is also present. Respawn timers are also adjusted. Last but not least, “an in-game visual has been added to help players see what actions they are doing that subtract tickets from the enemy team.” There is also one small adjustment that “Minions and Juggernauts now walk directly into the portal instead of animating in ways that can confuse players if they are hittable or not.”

In fact, if we had to bet, we’d say these adjustments all sound like new features that will be making their way into regular Arena once Hi-Rez tests them through the Adventure. Hi-Rez did say Arena improvements would be coming in Season 5, after all.

Balance changes

Moving onto the all-important thing in MOBAs: balance. We see quite a few item changes and buffs and nerfs to gods, as well as some long overdue fixes to characters with pushes/pulls that caused players to lose their hit boxes and therefore not able to be hit. More simply put, have you ever missed an ability on a player being pulled by Hercules or Tyr? It’s because they actually “lose their hit box” during the ability.
