SMITE publisher Hi-Rez Studios announced their games will no longer support Windows XP and Windows Vista beginning in September. The announcement doesn’t come as a surprise considering the operating systems are 17 and 11 years old respectively, and the news most likely does not apply to most users.
As for why the change, Hi-Rez’s end of support of XP and Vista coincides with Steam ending support for the two operating systems beginning 2019. Hi-Rez’s games SMITE, Paladins and Realm Royale have major player bases on Steam, so if Steam isn’t supporting older platforms, then Hi-Rez needn’t bother.
If you’re still running either of these OS, you’ll have to make the switch if you want to keep playing SMITE on PC.
