Dimi the Undying never dies in-game, nor does his presence in the SMITE pro scene.
Today, Spacestation Gaming announced Dimi will coach their current roster of BaRRaCCuDDa, JeffHindla, Venenu, Aquarius and andinster. Spacestation finished third in the North American SMITE Pro League’s Fall Split and will head to the qualifying rounds of the SMITE World Championship in November.
Dimi is best known — and really only known, due to the stability of the roster — for playing solo on two-time Worlds winning team NRG. Dimi was nicknamed Dimi the Undying for his low amount of deaths compared to other players.
Together, Dimi and teammates Adapting, Yammyn, emilitoo and iRaffer dominated the competitive scene, winning the 2016 and 2017 SMITE World Championships, among other titles. The roster also played under the Epsilon and Panthera banners before being picked up by NRG.
Dimi retired from professional SMITE in 2017, accepting an internship position with the United Kingdom branch of Hi-Rez Studios. The former pro continued to share his knowledge from the analyst desk at events like the SMITE World Championship 2018.
According to Dimi, Spacestation ADC BaRRaCCuDDa asked him if he was interesting in coaching, and the conversation went from there.
“I’m super happy to be part of the SMITE scene one again,” said Dimi in an announcement video released by Spacestation. “It’s also a great opportunity to be part of the SMITE scene with such great people on the roster.”Follow @SMITEScrub
